What counts as correct
- Accents are optional: "cafe" counts for "café", and the correct spelling is shown underlined.
- German umlauts can be typed as ae, oe, ue, and ß as ss. French œ can be typed as oe.
- Capital letters and punctuation are ignored, and hyphenated words can be typed joined, spaced or hyphenated.
Exam listening warm-up
Short, focused Spanish dictation is a good daily warm-up for the listening part of DELE and SIELE. It isn't a full exam course, but it trains the exact skill those sections test: catching every word at natural speed.
How to practice Spanish listening with dictation

Play the sentence once without pausing and type everything you caught. Don't stop to look words up.

Replay it and fill the gaps. Listening again is part of the exercise, not cheating.

Check your answer. Read the full sentence and listen once more while reading: that's when the missed Spanish words stick.

Come back tomorrow. A minute a day of Spanish dictation does more than an hour once a month.

What level of Spanish do I need?
Normal sentences suit lower-intermediate learners and up. Beginners can use them too: replay as often as needed and read the translation after checking. Hard sentences are longer and faster, for when Normal feels easy.
Who reads the Spanish sentences?
Natural-sounding text-to-speech voices, with several different voices so you don't get used to just one. They are not recordings of native speakers.
How often are new Spanish sentences added?
Every day: one Normal and one Hard sentence. This page shows a few recent ones; the app has today's and, with Pro, every past day.
